This page describes the various sharking trips undertaken on the Bonito since 2008. 2009 Overall in 2009 we caught ~30
portbeagle and 20 blue shark.
The main shark species that we catch are Blue and Portbeagle.
Blue Shark caught by drift fishing with both dead and live bait at various depths.
Portbeagle are also caught using drift fishing but with
live bait. It is our policy to tag and release all shark.

2008
Overall in 2008 we caught ~20 portbeagle and 30 blue shark.
This was the heaviest Blue Shark of 2008 and weighed 113 lbs (~51.4 kgs.). It was caught by Marcel from Holland and we were fishing at the Limeburner rock. Fish fought for over 30 minutes, was tagged and released alive. As usual the weather was excellent!! |

and weighed 106 lbs (~48.2 kgs.). It was caught by Williem from Holland and we were fishing at the Limeburner rock. The fish fought for over 1 hour and 10 minutes, It was tagged and released alive after photos. |
In 2008 we caught 6 portbeagles of over 100 lbs, all of which were tagged and released alive.
Over the past couple of years the average weight has been
rising by ~20 lbs a year.
Blue sharks in 2008 were slightly more numerous than 2007, with 2 over 100 lbs, tagged and released.
